Donna Gruintjes

Legal associate, Amsterdam

Donna is a Legal Associate based in the firm’s Amsterdam office and will shortly be sworn in and admitted to the Amsterdam Bar. She advises on matters relating to EU, UK and US sanctions and export control regulations, with a particular focus on related regulatory and criminal law issues.

Donna holds a Master’s degree in International and European Law from Radboud University, where her thesis focused on accountability for arms exports resulting in breaches of international humanitarian law. She also holds a Master’s degree in Dutch Law, specialising in criminal law, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Maastricht University. Her legal education has provided her with a broad foundation in Dutch law, complemented by a particular focus on criminal law and extensive knowledge of international and European legal frameworks.

Alongside her studies, Donna gained experience in client-facing legal roles, including supporting individuals in the context of criminal law proceedings and related legal questions.

Donna’s interdisciplinary background enables her to approach sanctions and export control matters from both a regulatory and criminal law perspective, while taking into account their broader international and European context.
